Sedation Dentistry & Anesthesia

As the only surgical and anesthesia specialists of the dental profession, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are extensively trained in all aspects of anesthesia administration. The ability to provide patients with safe and effective anesthesia has distinguished the specialty since its inception. Today’s technology makes it possible to perform both simple and complex procedures in an office setting while maintaining maximum patient comfort and safety.

At ORA® Surgery and Implant Studio Dr. Koos, a dual degreed physician and dentist, offers a full range of comfort levels with all office-based procedures for adults as well as children. At your consultation Dr. Koos will discuss the best anesthesia options for you depending on the complexity of your procedure and level of comfort required. Utilizing gentle medications that are well tolerated and quickly metabolized, allows for safe and comfortable procedures, with quick and smooth recovery times.

During your procedure, one or more of the following may be used to eliminate discomfort and anxiety: pre-appointment sedative oral medication, local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (laughing gas),intravenous light sedation (moderate sedation), and general anesthesia (deep sedation). Commonly, patients describe their feelings during procedures as comfortable, surprisingly pleasant, and are frequently amazed tat the procedure is carried out so expeditiously.
